An Overview of Helping Measures of the Anti-kidnapping society(1912—1937)

民国初年上海的人口拐卖现象日甚一日,不仅给普通的下层民众造成了深重的苦难,也给整个社会的正常发展带来了严重的危害。中国救济妇孺会作为旅沪同乡团体创办的、专为救济被拐妇孺的慈善组织,以救济弱小和协助社会治安为出发点,对被拐妇孺进行解救、留养、技能培训以及思想文化教育等,不仅为她们提供了人道主义援助,而且在一定程度上遏制了人口拐卖现象的日益泛滥,促进了区域社会的平稳转型和有机整合。

There were lots of kidnapping cases in Shanghai society and the kidnapping brought serious harm to the normal development of society. The Anti-kidnapping society, as a charity organization, founded by travelling Shanghai fellows, did its best to help the women and children who had been kidnapped. It played an extremely es- sential role in the development of society, and its work helped the whole society to transform smoothly.
