The close relationship between dance and religion could be traced back to a long time ago. In the totem worship of ＂all things of creation have spirit＂, primitive dance and primitive religious worship relied on and coexist with each other. And during the evolvement of primitive religious worship, primitive dance has gradually shaken off its utility and practicality and become mature. At present time, some elements, which brought primitive dance into being, still exist after a long course of development. The influence of primitive religious worship has not ceased but is deeply rooted in the contemporary culture and art of dance. Within the framework of historical materialism, we analyze and study this special historical phenomenon, understand the historic course and development of the culture and art of dance, better perceive its development conditions of today, carry forward the brilliant cultural and art legacy of dance of all nationalities, and explore the truth of spiritual civilization of humam beings.
