Objective To discuss the expression of CD105 in breast carcinomas and intraductal prolife rative lesions, and the clinical importance of CD105 as a marker for new born neoplasm-related microvessels of tumor. Methods To detect the expression of CD105 and VEGF, bFGF and PDGF in 70 cases of breast cancers, 64 cases of intraductal proliferative lesions, 18 cases of normal breasts, and to analyze them. Results The microvessel density (MVD) based on CD105 expression had statistical significance in differences groups, MVD adjacent to the lesion was significantly higher than those within the lesion in every group (P〈0.01 for each). High level of CD105 expression was demonstrated in the case with low difierentiated cases, late TNM stages, metastasis of lymph node and expression of VEGF, bFGF and PDGF. Conclusion CD105 is strongly expressed on proliferating vascular endothelium and specific in marking the activity microvessel of tumor. Investigating CD105 will contribute to prediction of the prognosis in breast cancer.
