存现句的生成是语言研究的一个重点和争议颇多的课题。本文是在认知语言学的框架下对英汉语存现句生成的认知过程进行的研究。文章从感知认知和信息编码的角度分析了英汉存现句的使用机理、人的认知取向在英汉存现句的生成方面起的作用。英存现句中使用“There”这一看似无意义的成分与存现动词是有密切关系的,它不仅是由存现动词的固有属性决定的,且与人们的认知有关系。

The generation of the existemial sentences is one of the most important subjects with a lot of arguments in the language research. The paper makes a research about the cognitive process in the generation of existential sentences in English and Chinese in the frame of cognitive linguistics. It analyzes its usages of mechanism and the effects of Man＇s cognitive on the generation of existential sentences in English and Chinese from the point of the Man＇s perception and information encoding . The word of ＂There＂ used in the English existential sentences, which seems meaningless, relates closely with its verb and it is decided not only by the existential verb, but also by Man＇s cognition.
