Natural focus of the descriptive adverbial-verb configuration functioning as predicate

本文支持汉语中作为谓语的状中结构的中心语成分是自然焦点的观点，主要讨论产生严重分歧的描述性状中结构。文章分析其句法结构，采纳Cinque（1993）的理论，认为结构中内嵌最深的成分是中心语，即焦点；分析以往的疑问测试和所使用的语境证明中心语的焦点性；并从短语和句子的句法单位区分、对比焦点和语义焦点同自然焦点的区分等角度解释误解的原因；最后再引申到句子层面的状中结构，认为包含“把”字结构的句子中“把”字短语修饰的中心语谓语为句子的自然焦点。

This thesis discusses descriptive adverbial-verb configuration to support the viewpoint that the modified verb in an adverbial-verb configuration is the natural focus in a sentence in Chinese.Following Cinque(1993),it analyses the modified verb as the most deeply embedded component or focus in syntactic structure.It proves the claim by using question test and the contexts in which the configuration is used.It accounts for the misinterpretations in terms of distinguishing different levels of syntactic units,contrastive focus,semantic focus and natural focus.Finally,along the same line of reasoning,it is held that the predicate or the modified verb following the bǎ-construction is the natural focus in a sentence.
