The Effects of Chinese Expression on English Writing

许多大学生在英语写作中受到汉语表达习惯的影响,多以人称词作主语,少用被动句和名词化结构,句型单一,缺少变化,常以意思连接句子,缺少必要的连接手段,其汉式思维导致了汉式英语;要避免这些问题,必须有意识地分析汉语表达习惯与英语表达方式的差异,多读多练,日积月累,才能提高英语写作水平。

Lots of college students＇ writings are influenced by Chinese expressions. Personal pronouns are used as subject mostly; passive voice and nominal structure are less used; sentence structures are rather simple; necessary conjunctions are needed between sentences and paragraphs. Chinese way of thinking leads to Chinese English. To avoid this, students should he full aware of the differences between Chinese expressions and English expressions, and practise more to improve their English writing skills.
