Villette is the last novel of Charlotte Bronte. It represents the awkward female statue under the patriarchy of the 19 century through describing the process of the heroine Lucy Snowe's mental development. Charlotte selects two pairs of opposite female images of unearthly lives to stand for the women's absolute living right which are depressed and distorted by the patriarchy-two pieces of oil paintings, a crazy actress and a repressive nun. They are adopted as the references that Lucy Snowe discriminates and judge the femals' s self- worth. ViUette female patriarchy
