As neighbors, China and Korean peninsula have had close economic and cultural intercourse since ancient times. And through long-term development and fusion, the two sides have become culturally homologous and formed a mental identity on which they founded a friendly relationship for the whole historical periods. Based on this, the North Sung and Koryo started up a familiar intercourse; on the contrary, the Liaes with entirely different culture could only keep the tributary relations with Koryo by power. Furthermore, although the relationship between the North Sung and Koryo were often contained by the Liao, the centuriesold historical and cultural connection made them remain actually connected though apparently severed.
