For the librettist and translator Diana Liao.Li Bai wrote like a graceful ballerina. For composer Guo Wenjing,he was "the Mozart of the Tang Dynasty".Poet Li Bai with music by Guo and libretto by Liao, opens this month at Central City Opera in Denver Colorado and later comes to the Beijing Music Festival this October ,Even though the librettist, who recently returned to her native Hong Kong after more that three decades in New York.has a much different conception of China's most famous poet than the Sichuan-born,Beijing-based composer,Li Bai remains large, and contains multitudes. The two creators discuss bringing their different conceptions together in one opera.
