Chinese and foreign poets have different understanding to connotation of the image ＂crossroad＂ due to their different cultural context. Deeply influenced by Chinese understanding to ＂crossroad＂ ,Mr. Gu Zixin has his extraordinary translation to Robert Frost＇s The Road Not Taken. This paper discusses the reason of Gu＇ s translation and emphasizes the importance of faithful translation to poetry based on the creation background.
