A Modern Interpretation of Gongsun Long's Tongbian Theory

《通变论》之中心论题"二无一"命题的本意,是指在一个兼名中不存在任何具有独立符号性质的单名。在《通变论》中,公孙龙深刻阐明了兼名的独立性,正确揭示了兼名的合成规律、特点。因此,从《通变论》的思想意蕴来看,它实际上是一篇探讨兼名问题的符号学专论。

＂Er Wu Yi＂ proposition is the core thesis of Tong Bian Theory. Its original idea means there is no Dan Ming which has independent symbolic character in Jian Ming. In Tong Bian Theory, Gongsun Long deeply elucidated the independence of Jian Ming, and accurately indicated Jian Ming＇s synthetical regulations and characteristics. Therefore, from the thought of Tong Bian Theory ,it is a special paper of semeiological theory about Jian Ming＇s problem.
