From Poems of Neo-Studies to Poems of New Schools——Evolution of "revolution in poetry" in modern China

中国近代"诗界革命"的发生,并非一蹴而就。实际上,早在梁启超于1899年正式提出"诗界革命"这一口号之前,已有不少诗人在进行着"诗界革命"的实践,而正是这些诗人或失败或成功的诗歌创作,促发了梁启超"诗界革命"口号的提出和理论体系的思考,其后又经由"专栏诗作"的进一步实践,最终确立了"诗界革命"的发展方向,并带来了近代"新派诗"的创作热潮。

The poetry revolution in modern China did not happen overnight. Actually, many poets had been practicing revolution long before Liang Qichao put forth the slogan ＂revolution in poetry＂ in 1899. It was the poets＇ practice in composing, either successful or failing, that inspired Liang to proposing the slogan and pondering upon the theoretical system. And later, through the further practice in ＂column poems＂, the development trend of poetry revolution was finally defined, thus starting an upsurge in composing new-school poems.
