Utilizing CMOS is the key to low-cost, high-performance, single-chip integration of the satellite L-band tuner, demodulator and other functional blocks. This article explores the trade-offs between novel low-IF and legacy zero-IF DBS tuner architectures in light of a monolithic IC implementation of the complete DBS RF front end.
