The consciousness of benevolence in family ethics

仁是儒家文化及其道德的核心,从行仁的方法看,仁首先是在家庭关系中的推开,涉及父子关系、夫妻关系、兄弟关系,即父慈子孝、夫妻互敬、兄友弟悌。所以在一定意义上,儒家所有的道德立论均是在家庭道德伦理上的展开和自觉。文章探讨的是仁在家庭伦理中的如何自觉问题。

Benevolence is the core of the Confucian culture and ethics. Viewed from the way of its practice, benevolence, first of all, extends from family relationships between father and son, between husband and wife, and between elder brother and younger brother; that is, father is kind and son filial, husband and wife respect each other, elder brother shows friendly while younger brother loving. So, in a sense, all Confucian ethical views are but extension and consciousness of family ethics. What the paper discusses is how the benevolence becomes something actively felt in family ethics.
