Critics have debated on the mysticism of Doris Lessing＇ s writings during the 1970s and the 1980s. Some appreciate her prophetic mystical power while others are disappointed with her abandonment of realistic writing. The Sufism in her later writings is represented in The Memoirs of a Survivor.
