This paper surveys Lao She＇ s patriotism during the Anti - Japanese war. It analyzes his Four Generations Under One Roof and other works as regards the attitude of the Guomingdang Government, which was in power then, and that of Jiang Jieshi towards the Anti -Japanese War. Also, it reveals the reason why Four Generations Under One Roof was not published after New China was founded, and the reason why Lao She was unwilling to publish his collected works on account of that. Moreover, it points out that some passages of Four Generations Under One Roof were deleted when it was published in the New Era.
