摘要
从认知语言学隐喻的角度,分析了英语词义变化和认知隐喻的关系,重点论述了隐喻在英语词义发展中的作用,通过对词义发展历史中典型词汇演变情况分析及近几年新词的抽样调查,揭示了隐喻对词义形成的影响,从中可推测英语词汇的发展过程中隐喻的作用。
This paper deals with the relation between cognitive metaphors and the development of English words. It lays special emphasis upon the effects of cognitive metaphors on semantic changes of English words. Through analyzing the meaning evolution of typical words in the history of English words and the survey of some of the new words in recent years, we can predict the effects of cognitive metaphor on the development of English vocabulary.
