Rhetorical Functions of English Onomatopoeia and the Strategies for Translating into Chinese

英语拟声词既是最原始、最基本的语言形式,也是一种极富生命力的修辞手段。其在不同的层次的口语、书面语中都有一定的使用率,通过实例分析、研究、探讨英语拟声词的修辞的效果,并对英语拟声词的汉语翻译提出对应策略。

English onomatopoeia is not only the most primitive and basic form of language, but also a most vivid rhetorical means. Onomatopoeic words are widely used both in oral and written English, so it＇s necessary to explore and study its rhetorical function and skill of translation from English to Chinese. By analyzing some examples of the use of onomatopoeia, its rhetorical effects are discussed, and the corresponding translation strategies are proposed.
