This paper provides a classified description of ineffable words in Mei County from the two aspects as the prevention of ominousness and worldliness as well as the tendency to propitiousness and elegance. It also interprets in detail the reasons and manners of avoidance of those ineffable words from the perspective of social culture and folk - custom. Many characteristics of the ineffable words are brought forth, and a good many features of the culture and folk - custom in Mei County are presented as well.
