There is a sentence Er Mu Zhi Mu Gong Yi (which means the tree on your tomb have been tall) in the book Spring and Autumn with Commentary by Zuo Qiuming, and Gong is a key word in this sentence. The explanatory note of Du Yu is He Shou Yue Gong, which involves two different meanings in the view of comtemporary people, one means to close up with fingers, and the other means to close up with arms. Almost a lot of explanatory books accept the latter, but the original meaning of Du Yu is the former.
