从符号学视角看《红楼梦》歇后语翻译中的文化差异与意义传递

A Semiotic Approach to the Cultufal Difference and Transfer of Meanings in Translating Xiehouyu:a Case Study on Hong Lou Meng

从符号学的意义观着手,探讨了歇后语在言内意义、指称意义和语用意义三方面与英语的差异,并通过对霍、杨两英译本中有关歇后语翻译实例的对比分析,考察了不同的策略,指出歇后语的语用意义在翻译中应该优先考虑。

Based on a semiotic view on meanings, this paper first makes ananalysis on the cultufal differences of Xiehouyu from English in linguistic, referent and pragmatic meanings, followed by a comparison on the different translation strategies in transferring these three levels of meaning between David Hawke S and Yang Hsieh-yi ＆ G ladys Yang. The conciusion is thus made that the transfer of pragmatic meacing is of the first importance in Xie- houyu translation.
