The present thesis stated that the present commonly used "Arabic numerals" was not a result of just one invention, but a result of a historical process of gradual evolution. Firstly, the set of Arabic numerals should have originated from the numerals of the sub - decimal system created by the ancient Chinese. Later on, the Indians made further creations in their application of the numerals. Finally, they have come into fixed forms and have been extensively accepted world wide, in which the contribution of the Arabians should not have been ignored.
