与公立大学的经费主要靠政府拨款不同,中国近代私立大学的经费来源于多方面,其中捐款占有相当重要的地位。近代私立大学得到社会捐助主要有以下几个原因:人们思想观念的转变、政府的鼓励、经济的发展及中外交往等。

In contrast with those state universities, which are largely funded by the government, the financing channels of these private universities are different, where social donation is important. The reasons that the private universities can get social donation are chiefly as follows： the changes in people＇s ideas and conceptions, the encouragement by the government, the development of economy, the communication between home and abroad.
