Holding the Advancing Direction of Advanced Culture and Developing the University Culture with Chinese Features

“中国特色大学文化”有两层意思:一是大学文化,主要凝聚在大学在长期教育和办学实践中积淀和创造的深厚文化底蕴之中;二是中国特色,必然受到中国历代社会文化,特别是中国历代社会主导文化的深刻影响。以邓小平理论和“三个代表”重要思想为指导,认真总结两千多年来,特别近一个多世纪以来中国特色大学文化发展、变革的历史进程和经验教训,以史为鉴,面向未来,牢牢把握中国特色先进文化前进方向,在世界多元文化激荡交融中发展“面向现代化、面向世界、面向未来的,民族的、科学的、大众的,以人为本、科学发展、自主创新的”中国特色社会主义大学文化,开创高等教育和大学创新新局面,是当前和今后一个时期我国高等教育战线面临的一项具有重大意义的战略任务。

University culture with Chinese features has two meanings： one is university culture, which is gathered in the culture created and accumulated in the long period of education and running universities; the other is Chinese features, which is affected by the Chinese social culture of all dynasties, especially by the main culture of all dynasties. The following are important tasks for Chinese higher education in the coming years： to be guided by Deng Xiao-ping＇ s theory and ＂Three-representing＂ ; to summarize conscientiously the developing history and experience of Chinese university culture in the past tow thousand years, especially the past one hundred years; to hold fast to the direction of advanced culture with Chinese features; in the exchange of world multi-culture, to develop the university culture with Chinese socialist features, which is facing modernization, world and future, and national, scientific and popular, and people-orientating, scientic developing and self-innovating; to open up a new prospect of higher education and university innovation.
