n the necessity of the development of botanical gardens in order to match the progress of our times, plant information management system, which developed first with the computer technology in the western countries, is an effective tool in managing the living plants in the botanical gardens. This paper outlines the basis and status of the systems developed in China as well as in important botanical gardens worldwide and gives the analysis and suggestions of the problems existed presently and their prospects are discussed.
