This essay analyzes different translators＂ choices and preference of the two translation methods at different stages in Chinese translation history. Moreover,it expounds the variation and development of translation of Buddhist Scripture. Lastly,this essay puts forward that the spirit of the original text can be better conveyed with the flexible use of the two methods in translation practice.
