Bourdieu's Reading of L'Education Sentimental

本文以布迪厄对福楼拜《情感教育》的阅读为例分析指出,布氏的文学场理论一方面揭示了小说产生的复杂社会历史条件,将艺术作品视为场域之内不同权力相互竞争的产物;另一方面它却无力解释艺术家独特风格的形成机制,从而割裂了艺术与人类生存的关系。由此反观海德格尔,后者把艺术思索为人类本真的生存方式的艺术观,从而把艺术与真理和生存问题联结为一体。

This paper makes a theoretical analysis of Bourdieu's reading of Flaubert's L'Education Sentimental,suggesting that the theory of literary field established by Bourdieu largely clarifies the complicated social and historical conditions upon which the novel is(re-)produced,so one can consider art as a result of struggles between different powers within the field.But the theory cannot give us a reasonable explication for the deeper genetic mechanism of an artist's individual style,for it sees art and human existence as two unconnected pieces.Contrary to this,Heidegger's notion of art that regards art as a truthful way of human life,this paper argues,helps one see art,truth and existence as a whole.
