摘要
英语读、听技能的训练与提高通常涉及到四种输入方式(读、听、视听及字幕视听)和重复性输入。本文着重调查输入方式和输入次数这两个因素在促成语篇理解方面的差异状况。调查结果表明:1)在对语篇理解的作用上,四种输入方式之间存在显著差异,其作用由大到小依次为字幕视听、读、视听和听;2)在对语篇理解的作用方面,重复性输入次数之间也存在显著差异:输入次数的增多与理解率的提高呈正比关系,但输入次数对语篇理解所产生的作用在不同的输入方式下有所不同;3)输入方式与输入次数之间没有交互关系。
Improvement of EFL reading and listening abilities is achieved by resorting to four different input modes(i.e.reading,listening,audiovisual and captioned audiovisual modes)in conjunction with input frequency.This study,using a 2×2 factorial design and involving 100 Chinese non-English major college students,was conducted to determine 1)the effects of the students' exposure to four different input modes and 2)that of input frequency on the students' comprehension of one and the same English text.Analysis of covariance(ANOVA)procedures were used for data analysis and the results indicated significant effects for both the input modes and input frequency,despite some effect variations under different mode and frequency conditions.Findings and their instructional implications were discussed in detail.The article concludes with three instructional suggestions regarding appropriately integrating reading into listening training and making good use of input frequency in order to improve the learners' English receptive skills.
