论《愤怒的葡萄》中的女权精神

GREAT WOMEN IN GREAT DEPRESSION-A FEMINIST READING OF THE GRAPES OF WRATH

分析了著名诺贝尔文学奖获得者约翰.斯坦贝克代表作《愤怒的葡萄》一书中的女权精神。这种分析是建立在对小说中的女性形象——乔德妈妈、罗莎香以及第四清洁所妇女委员会的成员作为女权精神的代表人物的很好理解的基础上的。同时,还提出了小说中的女权精神与传统的女权运动的不同点,从而得出结论,小说对女权精神的描绘是为了凸显大萧条时期下层人民的艰难生活。

This paper aims at an analysis of the feminist spirit expressed in The Grapes of Wrath, the masterpiece of the famous American writer John Steinbeck. The analysis is based on a good understanding of the great women in the novel, ma, Rose of Sharon and the women committee members of Number Four Sanitary Unit, who are the representatives of feminists. Moreover, this paper also presents the difference between the feminist spirit in the novel from that in feminist movement and concludes that the portrayal of feminist spirit in the novel is for the purpose of displaying the miserable life of the poor in the Great Depression.
