Life of the New Kuomintang Official-gentry in the Country(1948—1950)——A Case of Zhang Tiemin,Chief of the Town of Chang'an of Zhejiang Province

本文透过1949年前后国民党新官绅张铁民在海宁县长安镇的生活,讨论社会政局影响下资源配置规则完全改变,如何导致张铁民在地方关系网络中的权威功能的丧失,并据此观察中国乡村社会中乡绅阶层的消失。

Based on the case study of Zhang Tiemin, chief of the town of Chang＇an of Zhejiang Province in 1948-1950, this paper points out how changes in the resource allocation under the influence of social political situations contributed to Zhang Tiemin＇s loss of his authority in the local network of relations, and studies how come the gentry class faded away from the Chinese countryside.
