Reforming the Teaching of College English to Cultivate Students' Ability

《大学英语课程教学要求》规定:大学英语教学的目的是"培养学生的英语综合应用能力,特别是听说能力"。但是,由于受传统英语教学和应试教育的影响,英语教学过分重视知识的传授,忽视了语言综合应用能力的培养。因此,要实现大学英语课程教学的目标,提高大学英语教师素质,改革大学英语教学方法与评价手段势在必行。

The goal of College English teaching is to cultivate students＇ comprehensive ability of using the language, especially the ability of listening and speaking. However,＇ being influenced by traditional methodologies and examination-oriented education, College English teaching paid much attention to linguistic knowledge, and neglected the cultivation of students＇ ability. Therefore, it is necessary to improve teachers＇ all-round qualities, and reform the methods of teaching and evaluating so as to realize the goal of teaching.
