魏源是近代中国近代著名的思想家、改革家、政治家、文学家,他主张经世致用,坚持兴利除弊,改革更法,是近代经世致用派最杰出的代表之一。魏源经世致用思想的形成,既与魏源饱受湖湘学派经世致用思想和常州学派经学经世学风的熏陶和影响有关,也有其特殊的社会历史背景和学术背景,并与魏源坎坷的仕途和丰富的人生阅历息息相关。

Wei Yuan （1794--1867） was the thinker, reformist, politician and literature writer in the modern time of China. He was the most prominent one of the representatives in the operation of thought of managing state affairs that he believed that in order to maintain the state prosperity, the reform of the existed order and made new laws in connection with administering state affairs, discarded the old rules and regulations which hindered the progress of the society. We study his background how to produce his thought that he accepted the ideas and concepts of managing state affairs from Huxiang School and Changzhou School. And also his thought matured from his uneven scholar rich experience at that time.
