斯文赫定在其《穿过戈壁沙漠》的序中这样抒发对1927年西北科学考查团的感受:"中、欧间这种伟大的合作对我而言,是一种真正的愉快之源;我把同地球上最伟大的、在许多观点上最饶兴趣的民族的代表曾经这样密切接触过这件事当作一种最大的收获。"徐炳昶在为斯文赫定的《长征记》写的序言中称许斯文赫定的治学精神是"人类的鸿宝,永远无从磨灭的东西"。如今80年过去,重温西北科学考查团这一在中国近代科学史上占有显著地位的往事,我们在感慨之余,会有很多收益。
Sevn Hedin expressed his feelings of the expedition group in the preface of his book'Across the Gobi Desert',that is,to him,the great cooperation between China and Europe was the actual source of pleasure and he regarded it as the most valuable treasure to have closely contacted with representatives with the most engrossing ideas from the greatest nation of the world.Xu Bingchang in his preface written for Sevn Hedin's book'The Long Old Road in China'cited Sevn Hedin's research spirit as'treasure of humanbeings which can never wear away.'Now 80 years has passed,reviving these past events which play an outstanding role in China's modern scientific history,we benefit a lot while sighing with emotion.
