明清史学史研究的新作——读朱端强著《万斯同与〈明史〉修纂纪年》

万斯同与《明史》修纂问题是明清史学研究的一个重要课题,虽然前后研究者甚众,但以往研究论著明显存在三个方面的不足:一是所用材料遗漏甚多;二是对《明史》修纂的全过程缺乏贯通和综合研究;三是万斯同到底如何修史并未落实。朱瑞强先生近20年来一直致力于万斯同与《明史》修纂的研究,成果丰厚,新近推出的《万斯同与<明史>修纂纪年》(中华书局,2004年6月),更堪称耕耘多年之力作,是一部体例严谨、资料宏富、考证精详、深具传统考据法特点的学术著作,较好地弥补了以往研究中的种种缺憾和不足,具有重要的学术价值和史料价值。

The compilation of The History of Ming Dynasty has been an important topic m the historical study of Ming and Qing Dynasty. There have been a huge number of scholars working on this field; however, there are still three obvious shortcomings in the past treatises. The first one is that the materials used have omitted too much information; the second one is the researchers before lack a comprehensive and run - through study of the entire process of the compilation of The History of Ming Dynasty; the last one is that they know nothing about how Wan Si tong compiled the history. Mr. Zhu Duan qiang has been working on the study,the compilation of The history of Ming Dynasty and IVan Si tong, for over 20 years, with plenty of works published. The latest one, Wan Si tong and The History of Ming Dynasty, which was published by the China Publishing House in June 2004 ,it is commented as a masterpiece resulted in the continuous hard work. It is rigorous in style, rich in information, detailed in textual research, and it is an academic treatise with the traditional method in textual research. It remedies the shortcomings in the researches before, and it is of significant value of learning and historical materials.
