再谈疑问语气词“呢”的来源

A Study of the Origin of the Partical Word "呢"

本文在前人研究的基础上探讨了疑问语气词"呢"的来源。认为魏晋南北朝以前,语助词"尔"既表"决定之意,又表疑问",即相当于现今的呢2和呢1。唐代起"尔"不再出现,呢2有了新的来源"裹、在"并在唐宋普遍使用。而呢1则在五代时禅宗语录里才出现了"聻(你)",由于"聻(你)"使用范围很小,在短期内便趋于末路。而曾与之同源且生命力极强的呢2便担负起呢1之职,为区别起见,用与"聻"音近的"那"来表示呢1,并且分工渐趋明确:呢1用"那",呢2用"哩"。但两者的用字经常出现混同的情况,并最终走向统一,都用"呢"来表示。

This article is about the stu of the origin of the partical word “呢” on the basis of the preceding reseach. Partical “尔” was devided into “呢1” and “呢2”in the Tang period and then combinded into one,that is “呢” ,hundands of years later.
