Analysis of the Connotation of Harmony in Contemporary China

党的十六大以来,党对和谐理念的认识不断深化,并赋予其新的科学内涵:社会和谐是中国特色社会主义的本质属性和现代化建设的重要目标;坚持科学发展,走资源节约型和环境友好型的可持续发展道路,实现人与自然的和谐相处;正确处理不同利益群体之间的矛盾,实现人与人、人与社会的和谐发展;走和平发展道路,建设和谐世界;建设和谐文化,培育和谐理念。

Since the 16th National Congress of the CPC, the CPC has been deepening the understanding of the idea of harmony and has given new scientific connotation to it. Social harmony is the essential attribute of socialism with Chinese characteristics and is an important target of modernization; Upholding the scientific development theory is the path for sustainable development with resource conservation and friendly environments so as to realize harmony between human and the nature; We shall properly cope with the contradictions among the divergent interest communities in order to realize the harmonious relations between people and people as well as people and society; We shall hold on to the path of peaceful development and constructing a harmonious world; We shall cultivate the harmonious culture and build up the idea of harmony.
