Translation Manipulated by Ethical and Aesthetic Ideologies——A Case Study of Two Chinese Versions of Gone with the Wind

随着翻译研究的不断发展和深入,意识形态因素对翻译的影响逐渐成为新的亮点。文章以美国通俗小说Gone with the Wind的两中译本为案例分析,从伦理和审美意识形态两个方面分别进行了具体分析,从而证实意识形态通过对译者的隐形制约,对原文加以改写、删减、增扩等,最终达到对翻译的无形操纵。

With the development of translation studies, the influence upon translation exerted by ideology has gradually attracted theorists＇ attention. This paper attempts to examine the relationship between translation and ideology on the basis of a comparative analysis of two Chinese versions of Gone with the Wind, in order to figure out the covert ideological manipulation through applications of translation skills such as deletion, addition, amplification, etc. The ideological manipulation has been illustrated from two perspectives, namely, ethical interference and aesthetic filtering.
