双语教学是高校教改的重点,但对学生的英语基础、师资条件、教学方法等方面都有较高的要求。专门用途英语衔接了公共英语教学和双语教学,是两者之间的过渡性课程。该文从公共英语教学面临的问题、实施双语教学的条件制约、专门用途英语教学的理据进行探讨,提出以ESP为过渡,衔接EGP与双语教学的设想。
