2005年5月,长兴岛的开发被列为辽宁省"十一五"规划的重点项目。作为长江以北的第一大岛,长兴岛将成为辽宁乃至东北地区蔚为壮观的深水工业码头群和重大装备制造业基地。

The development of Changxing Island was listed as an important project of the Eleventh Five- Year Program of Liaoning Province in May, 2005. As the biggest island north of the Yangtze River, Changxing Island will become a grand water-depth industrial dock groups harbor and a base for manufacturing heavy equipment.
