摘要
笔者以某大学英语专业三年级学生为研究对象,着重研究了他们冒险观念行为之间的差异以及冒险意识和英语学习之间的关系。研究以问卷和访谈为研究工具,并将学生的英语专业四级笔试成绩和前一学期英语精读考试成绩的平均值作为衡量其英语水平的标准。数据分析结果表明:1)多数学生认为冒险意识对英语学习有所帮助。但由于种种原因,他们的行为与观念并不一致:他们在学习英语时表现出来的冒险性较弱;2)多数学生的冒险性处于中等水平以内,在此情况下,冒险性与英语成绩呈正相关。
This paper reports an empirical study on the risk-taking beliefs and behaviors of English majors in China while learning English. Particular attention was given to the difference between the students' risk-taking beliefs and behaviors and the correlation between risktaking and English proficiency. The subjects were third-year English majors from a university. Data were gathered by means of a questionnaire and interviews. Proficiency was measured by the subjects' scores on the nation-wide TEM4 and also their scores on the course of intensive reading. The results of data analysis showed: 1) Most students set a comparatively high value on risk-taking in English learning and believe that risk-taking can do good to English learning; however, there is a difference between their belief and behavior -- they are actually much less risky than they think they should be for various reasons; 2) Within the moderate level, there is a positive correlation between risk-taking behaviors and English proficiency.
