Reflection over the reform of English teaching mode for non-English major graduates

研究生英语教学的目的是在较高的起点上,有效地提高学生的英语应用能力。因此,研究生英语教学应突出实用性,着重实践能力的培养。根据问卷调查及两届学生的教学效果分析,提出应根据研究生的客观需求改革课堂教学模式,设计合理的考试体系保证学生的学习效果,从而全面提高研究生英语语言素质。

Postgraduate English education has its own distinct features as a further extension of undergraduate English education. It aims at training students＇ practical competence effectively at a higher level. So it should highlight the practical application. Based on the data collected from the questionnaires submitted by postgraduates from two grades, and on the analysis of the present English teaching method and effects, the article points out that it＇s better to reform the in-class teaching mode and the testing approaches. Only in this way can postgraduates＇ linguistic competence be really improved.
