Sino-British Scientific Cooperation in Late World War II:A Perspective Based on Correspondence between Li Shu-hua and Joseph Needham

根据档案馆藏李约瑟与北平研究院副院长李书华的通信,梳理了二战后期李约瑟对北平研究院科研活动的援助,以及二人共同参与的有关科研管理、科研合作方面的活动,说明了二战后期中英间科学交流的意义,和对战后成立联合国教科文组织的影响.

Based on correspondence between Li Shu--hua and Joseph Needham preserved in archives, this article describes the aid Joseph Needham provided the National Academy of Peiping, and activities Li and Needham conducted together regarding administration and science and technology cooperation. In doing so, this article illuminates the aspects of Sino--British science cooperation in late World War Ⅱ, and its influence on the founding of UNESCO after the War.
