Language testing is a branch of applied linguistics. This article makes comment on the two important criteria in great detail： reliability and validity. Reliability means the quality of being reliable on consistency. Validity means the quality of being valid or realization of the purposes. The article also explains the classifications, calculating methods as well as the relation between the two criteria. It can be constructive for the evaluation of language testing.
