Academic Preparation for A Guide to the History of Chinese Fiction

《中国小说史略》由初创到最终成书,经过鲁迅的多次增补修订,历时近20年。在该书撰写之前,鲁迅进行了充分的准备,尤其是对相关史料广泛搜集,先后编定多部小说史料专集,与《中国小说史略》构成一个完整的研究体系,不仅填补了既往研究中的空白,而且成为《中国小说史略》成书的最基本的学术准备。

A Guide to the History of Chinese Fiction lasted nearly 20 years from beginning to end with quite a few supplementations and revisions by Lu Xun’s. Lu Xun had been well-prepared before starting to write this book. He collected widely relevant historical data, and compiled some books on history of fiction, which formulated an integrated system of research together with A Guide to the History of Chinese Fiction. This not only filled in the blank of research, but also acted as the most fundamental academic preparation for the completion of A Guide to the History of Chinese Fiction.
