从英汉两种语言文化中人们对数字的喜好不同人手,借助代表性的数字以及含有数字在内的习语,分析比较英汉两种语言的数字背后的文化内涵,并概括总结出这一类习语翻译的常见方法,从而得出翻译者要准确传达数词习语的含义,必须对中英两种语言与文化有较全面的了解。
Ab The article aims to analyze the different appetite for numbers in English and Chinese culture and compares the connotation and origin of typical numbers and idioms containing numbers. And therefore generalize some commonly-used translating skills. In conclusion, it is necessary to have an over-all knowledge of both language and culture. Only in this way can we exactly convey the meaning of number idioms.
