Where is Zhuangzi's Hometown?——A Summary of the Symposium on the Identification of Zhuangzi's Hometown Sponsored by Dongming County of Shandong Province

庄子故里何在,史籍不祥。全国一些高校和社科机构专家两次聚会山东东明,进行考察、研讨、比较和论证。认为:古代东明地域位于古黄河、濮水、漆水之滨;古漆国位于东明境内;东明在唐玄宗时被诏改为"南华县",南华县、南华山、南华观与"南华真人"、《南华真经》构成了东明特有的"系列南华";有关地方志及出土碑刻记载明确;东明有庄子嫡系后裔集中居住。因此,确认庄子故里在东明有多方面的直接的、间接的、可靠的证据。

Historical records do not help much in identifying Zhuangzi＇ s hometown. Recently experts from colleges, universities and institutes of social sciences gathered in Dongming for two successive symposiums on the identification of Zhuangzi＇ s hometown,during which investigations,discussions,comparisons and argumentations were made. The scholars reached a comsensus that there are,ad follows ,a large variety of veritadle proofs, direct or indirect,justifying the identification of Dongming as Zhuangzi＇ s hometown：the ancient Dongming wad embraced by the ancient Yellow River, Pu River and Qi River;the ancient State of Qi was situated in Dongming; Dongming wsa renamed as ＂Nanhua County＂in accordance with the imperial decree by Emperor Xuanzong in the Tang Dynasty;Nanhua County, Mountain Nanhua, Nanhua Temple, Nanhua hnmortal and Nanhua Analects are a series of proofs,which are not available in other places;local historical annals and inscriptions on the monuments and tombstones clearly records that Zhuangzi was born in Dongming;and there is aresidential area densely inhabited by Zhuangzi＇ s posterity.
