中瑞西北科学考察团在徐炳昶和斯文.赫定的领导下,历经艰辛,在考古学方面取得了可喜的成绩。袁复礼发现了大量的恐龙化石,从而打破了中亚无恐龙的定论。居延汉简和罗布淖尔汉简的发现,得到了学术界的高度重视,大大推进了我国简牍学的发展。黄文弼根据所采集的石器特征,认为罗布石器文化路线是由东北向西南传播,纠正了斯坦因的自西向东说。
