Review of the Industrial Construction in Wuhan During the First Seventeen Years After the Founding of New China

新中国成立后,中共武汉市委确立了建立新的社会主义工业城市的战略目标,坚持基建第一、确保重点建设的发展方针。在中央和全国各地的支持下,把支援国家重点建设与发展地方工业结合起来,大力进行工业建设,通过第一、第二个五年计划的建设,使武汉成为我国重要的工业基地,华中地区的工业中心。但在建设过程中也存在着一些不足,主要是"左"倾思想的影响,给武汉工业建设造成了不应有的损失。

After the inauguration of New China the CPC Wuhan Committee laid down the strategic goal of building Wnhan into a new socialist industrial city and adhered to the developmental principle of giving top priority to capital construction and ensuring the key projects of construction. With the support from the central authorities and various places throughout the country, Wuhan combined support to national major construction projects with the development of local industries and went all out for industrial development. Through the strenuous efforts in the period of the First and the Second Five-year Plan, Wuhan became an important industrial base in China and the industrial center in Central China. However, some drawbacks also cropped up in the process of construction, mainly the influences of ＂Leftist＂ thought, incurring losses that should have been avoided.
