The necessity and feasibility of the integration of process planning and production scheduling and the relations between CAPP and shop job scheduling are analyzed. A decision making method for shop job heuristic scheduling based on alternative process plans, alternative machines and scheduling principles and for a variety of small lot manufacture is put forward in detail.
