Ethical Thoughts on Informed Consent

尊重患者的意愿是医学人道主义的体现,履行知情同意有助于制约医务人员权利的过度运用,有利于在意外情况发生时患者采取较为客观的态度,避免医患矛盾,但应防止医务人员将知情同意作为自我保护的手段。

As a term in Medical ethics, informed consent refers to the esteem for patient＇s will. The principle of informed consent embodies medical humanism and avoids the abuse of excessive power of medical staff. Under the context of informed consent, patients will take an objective attitude towards unexpected accidents if they are informed; furthermore, the conflicts between patients and medical staff will be avoided. But it should also be prevented that medical staff utilize the principle of informed consent as a self - guard method.
